STEDIWAT
Output characterisation | |
OUTPUT SENTENCE | Decision support system methodology for integrated environmental impact and risk assessment which was applied for water users (polluters) in 4 river basins. |
OUTPUT TYPE | DSS |
WATER TOPIC | Quality of natural systems |
KEYWORDS | Quality of natural systems, ?Management process |
KEYWORDS TYPE | DSS |
MARKET NEED TAILORED | The STEDIWAT Project is relevant for the water domain given the importance of environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and natural resources management, especially for water resources management and to stimulate competitive RD&I partnerships. |
OUTPUT DESCRIPTION | 1. Development of innovative technical instruments for monitoring, data acquisition, modeling and prediction to be used in integrated water resources management; 2. Development of research and cooperation capacity, knowledge transfer between universities and local/regional water resources management authorities, water users and other stakeholders in 4 river basins in Romania (Prut, Banat, Arges-Vedea and Olt) which would contribute to local and regional sustainable development. |
STATE OF DEVELOPMENT | Small scale Pilot |
INNOVATIVE ASPECTS AND ADVANTAGES | - It approaches in an holistic manner the whole water use cycle (supply, treatment, use, and re-use) at the level of stakeholders, by considering the complex relations and interactions between them. These studies were carried out in 4 river basins in Romania: Prut, Banat, Arges-Vedea and Olt; - It develops a complex and original support system based on state-of-the-art in multidisciplinary research and innovative technologies for online monitoring (remote sensing), GIS technologies, data analysis and modeling, scenario development and prediction, considering all the sustainable development dimensions, advanced treatment technologies for wastewater reuse, environmental management instruments and communication and data management; - It facilitates knowledge transfer, communication and cooperation between researchers, decision makers and other stakeholders, considering the actual pressures on water supply and demand, as well as the behavior of different stakeholders. |
INTELLECTUAL/INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY RIGHTS | All the results of this project represent the exclusive property of the members of the research team. |
TRANSFERABILITY | Research, Industry, Water operators, Water resources management authorities, Other stakeholders. |
POTENTIAL USERS/CLIENTS | Research, Industry, Water operators, Water resources management authorities, Other stakeholders. |
Estimation of risks | |
EVALUATION OF RISKS FOR OUTPUT USERS | There were no risks identified towards the implementation of the STEDIWAT Project for several reasons: the activities of the project cover multiple topics within water resources management, and furthermore, the project was implemented on multiple river basins. |
ECONOMICAL RISKS | Research in water resources management represent an important knowledge support for water managers, industries, water services providers or other stakeholders. The identification of new and innovative solutions for water monitoring and management, the app |
TECHNICAL RISKS | Technical and environmental impact of the project: the activities and results of the project contribute to positive impacts over the environment by developing a support system which is based on a solid scientific based not only for the decision making pro |
