OUTPUT SENTENCE | Decision Support Systems (DSSs) developing environment for river basins planning and management |
OUTPUT TYPE | DSS |
WATER TOPIC | Management process |
KEYWORDS | River basin management, water resources |
KEYWORDS TYPE | DSS |
MARKET NEED TAILORED | Water supply, water quality, aquifers simulation, economic valuation of the basin management and evolution of several biological indicators. |
OUTPUT DESCRIPTION | a tool for the construction of decision support systems for planning and integrated management of water resources. It can be analyzed in an integrated way, and at river basin level quantitative, qualitative, economic and environmental, also incorporating other aspects, such as priorities and management rules. It consists of a series of modules that are integrated into a single system in the user control unit allows graphics defining the schema of the water system, databases, the use of the above modules control and graphical analysis of the results. Great implementation in Spanish river basin planning. |
STATE OF DEVELOPMENT | http://www.upv.es/aquatool/software_E.html - Ready to be used |
INNOVATIVE ASPECTS AND ADVANTAGES | OPTIGES: Calculates the optimal assignment of water for each period needing very few data, almost only the physical description of the basin. SIMGES: General simulation model for river basin or complex water resources systems management where there are control or storage elements both superficial and subterranean, and elements for collection, transport, use and/or consumption, and artificial recharge of water. AQUIVAL: Produces the eigenvalues method data required from SIMGES for the simulation of a conjunctive use model. *SIMRISK: Evaluates the management risks in the medium-term to know the probable estimation of the final situation of the system at the end of the present campaign, or after two or more hydrological years. GESCAL: Includes the calculation of all the processes or water quality modification both in rivers and reservoirs. Applying it to different decision alternatives in the river basin management it is possible to evaluate the consequences for the water quality in the whole basin. MASHWIN: Analyses historical hydrological inflow series and the formulation of stochastic models for generating synthetic series. Its principal utility is as complement of the SIMRISK module. EVALGES: Simulates the management in the basin to obtain the different economic functions for every different alternative measure and the added costs to the system for each of these same measures. CAUDECO: Its recommended use is as a complement of SIMGES for evaluating the impact on the uses of water of different alternatives of environmental flows implementation. |
