MARKET NEED TAILORED

The STEDIWAT Project is relevant for the water domain given the importance of environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and natural resources management, especially for water resources management and to stimulate competitive RD&I partnerships.

OUTPUT DESCRIPTION

1. Development of innovative technical instruments for monitoring, data acquisition, modeling and prediction to be used in integrated water resources management;

2. Development of research and cooperation capacity, knowledge transfer between universities and local/regional water resources management authorities, water users and other stakeholders in 4 river basins in Romania (Prut, Banat, Arges-Vedea and Olt) which would contribute to local and regional sustainable development.

STATE OF DEVELOPMENT

Small scale Pilot

INNOVATIVE ASPECTS AND ADVANTAGES

- It approaches in an holistic manner the whole water use cycle (supply, treatment, use, and re-use) at the level of stakeholders, by considering the complex relations and interactions between them. These studies were carried out in 4 river basins in Romania: Prut, Banat, Arges-Vedea and Olt;

- It develops a complex and original support system based on state-of-the-art in multidisciplinary research and innovative technologies for online monitoring (remote sensing), GIS technologies, data analysis and modeling, scenario development and prediction, considering all the sustainable development dimensions, advanced treatment technologies for wastewater reuse, environmental management instruments and communication and data management;

- It facilitates knowledge transfer, communication and cooperation between researchers, decision makers and other stakeholders, considering the actual pressures on water supply and demand, as well as the behavior of different stakeholders.

EVALUATION OF RISKS FOR OUTPUT USERS

There were no risks identified towards the implementation of the STEDIWAT Project for several reasons: the activities of the project cover multiple topics within water resources management, and furthermore, the project was implemented on multiple river basins.

ECONOMICAL RISKSResearch in water resources management represent an important knowledge support for water managers, industries, water services providers or other stakeholders. The identification of new and innovative solutions for water monitoring and management, the app
